THE RECORDING STUDIO
Although I've been around music for most of my life (playing the
recorder in elementary school, clarinet and saxophone in high school),
it was really in 1994 that I developed a passion for music. At that time,
during a personal renewal of my life, I taught myself how to play the guitar
and I began to lead worship in church small group settings.
Since that beginning, I've had many opportunities to play and sing
in different environments. I played and led with the worship band of
"Ottawa Youth Alive!" (O-YA!), a local youth ministry that held monthly
worship services. I also played in worship teams at my church.
In 1998, I got together with several friends and we formed "Lifestream",
an independent local worship band. Seven band members representing six
different churches (and denominations), we got many opportunities to
lead worship at local churches and encourage them in their worship lives.
We were also blessed to be able to play at several events that were held
prior to Billy Graham's visit to Ottawa in June 1998. What a great experience!
After a year with the band, I retired in order to focus more attention
on my leadership activities at my church.
From 1997 to 2000, I was involved in worship leading at the
Vineyard Christian Fellowship Ottawa. I also provided administrative support
to the worship ministry at church and gradually took on the role of senior
worship leader at the church.
During the past few years, I have had opportunities to be a guest worship
leader at a number of functions, both church services and special events. I
have also formed my own worship band called "The Mashed Potatoes" which
has also received opportunities to minister in various local capacities. For
the last few years, I've also led worship regularly at
Sunnyside Wesleyan Church
as well as at Freedom Vineyard,
a new Vineyard churchplant in the Ottawa area.
Being a creative person, I've also tried my hand at writing some
of my own worship songs. Below is a sample collections of some songs
that I've written. Leadsheets (with guitar chords) are included, and
some songs even have RealAudio samples.
